Dragon’s Forge Miniatures: Perfect For Your Next TTRPG Campaign
Collecting and painting miniatures is a key component of many tabletop hobbies like board games and wargames, as well as being a creative hobby in its own right. At Dragon’s Forge we craft our miniatures with all of these in mind, but it’s the needs of the vibrant tabletop roleplaying community that drive us.
Just look at the customisable miniature kits featured in our current Kickstarter campaign, and which will be the first kits in The Forge when it launches in Q1 2022. These are unquestionably character models that tell a story, and the customisation options mean that their story is yours to shape in a way that works for your TTRPG player characters and NPCs.
Not only that, but when we design kits for The Forge, and even the pre-crafted miniatures coming to our online store, we always do so with TTRPG mechanics and conventions in mind. Whether a miniature goes through a comprehensive preproduction process involving a detailed design brief and concept art, or whether it springs fully-formed from the mind of the sculptor, we almost always begin with two factors in mind – culture (often called ‘race’) and class. With their roots in the works of Tolkien and dsffdsg, then later crystallised by games like Dungeons & Dragons, these concepts strongly shape how TTRPG players engage with their games and characters, so our miniatures reflect that.
That’s not to say that our creative process is stifled by prescriptive categorisation – not at all. We tend to use these archetypes as a starting point to inspire ideas and then take things in our own unique direction, whilst cleaving to convention just enough to ensure that our character designs slot comfortably into a broad range of game systems and settings. Our Dragora-Kai Warriors, for example, could be readily used to represent dragonborn fighters or even lizardfolk paladins in a D&D campaign, but their style is very distinctive and uniquely Dragon’s Forge.
So whether you’re playing as a halfling ranger, elf sorcerer, orc rogue or any other combination you can imagine, between The Forge and our online store we’ll have you covered.
